Good day to all of the Panasonic guru’s,

I am having quite a difficult time with this project. I have a small business that needed a new PBX. After reviewing the site requirements, the user chose the Panasonic KX-TA824 with the 3x8 expansion card, and 1 CID card. They have 4 CO lines, and 12 current extensions. They went with the KX-TVA50 VM unit, and 12 KX-T7731 sets.
I installed the system and followed the installation instructions to set up the PBX. I thought I was careful and read the integration information for the TVA50 as I set-up the TA824. When I installed the TVA50, I again followed the instructions for integration with the TA824. I got as far as the integration with the “Quick set-up” and I ran into a problem. I received a message from the TVA50 stating “Unable to get extensions and names.” I reset the system, same thing. I initialized the TVA50, same thing. I verified and reverified my entries, same thing. I came here and searched the forum and I found a couple of threads that were the same thing. As I read them, I saw that they had all been answered and different methods of correcting the issue were suggested. I tried the other “fixes” and none of them were addressing the issue. I assume that the systems were connected, but the poster of the questions did not post the final resultion on any of the threads.
I am sorry to bring you back to this issue again. I have seen countless threads referring to the same two pieces of equipment successfully installed and working properly. I could really use some assistance with this problem.
To briefly go through the settings.
- TVA50 has ports 1/2 connected to jacks 7/8 on PBX.
- TA824 is set to have jacks 7/8 as VM and APT.
- TA824 has all incoming lines set as normal.
- TA824 has jacks 7/8 in COS 7 & hunts circular.
- TA824 has all lines ringing immediately except jacks 7/8 and they are set with a 15sec/10sec delay.
- All times (day, lunch, and night) are matched across each extension.
- TVA50 is set to default set VM boxes, password.
I think that is the settings I have set-up. I imagine that I am missing a step or provision. I am sure that you will have no problem figuring out what I am doing wrong. If there is anything additional or settings that I can provide, please let me know and I will quickly return an answer to you.

Thank you all very much for your wonderful assistance with this project. I am really hoping that this issue will be solved soon.

Have you tried setting up VM via DPits integration, the TA824 is a hybrid system and Digital integration is not available (AFAIK)

No, I have not. The VM system automatically chooses APT for the 824. I didn’t know enough about connecting the two of them together to start going off manuals and try something on my own.

Are extension names set in the KX-TA824?
Did you select PBX type and integration mode on the KX-TVA50?.

ONONAT - Thank you very much for the reply to my post. To answer your questions:

- Yes, I have the extensions programmed in the TA-824. They are working properly. They are populating the lcd screen on the phones when I call from extension to another extension.

- Yes, I have selected the “TA-824/624” option in the PBX type menu in the TVA-50. When the “TA-824/624” PBX is selected, the TVA-50 automatically selects “APT” as the integration mode. I looked at the integration menu where the “APT” was selected to try to use the DTMS option, and there is not a option that. Only the “APT” is an available option when the TA-824/624 PBX is selected in the PBX type menu.

I am using the extension numbers 107 & 108 for the two VM ports that are connected to the ports #1 & #2 on the TVA-50. I was thinking about only using the port #7 on the TA-824 and connecting to only port #1 on the TVA-50 since I only have 12 users. Could this be a issue? Or should I just leave it on the 7/8 <—-> 1/2 ports?

It should not be this much trouble.

Thank you for all of your assistance. It is sincerely appreciated.

How are the physical voicemail ports connection?.
Should be connected in the proper order or sequence into the system.
Order of Jack No.s should correspond to the order of port No.s on the TVA.

Jack 7 on KX-TA824 into Port1 of the TVA50, Jack 2 of the KX-TA824 into port 8 of the KX-TVA50 e.t.c

Solid green light should be visible and call the voicemail extensions to verify all is good

Thank you for the response.

I have verified that port/jack 7 is connected to the port #1 on the VPS. The port/jack 8 is connected to the port #2 on the VPS. They both are connected with straight cable (not rolling the polarization).

When the 2 cables are connected between the two systems, the green “run” light is solid. If one or the other is disconnected, the “run” light is flashing green.

I have tried to test by calling the vm extension (107 or 108). Both of them show as busy and don’t connect. I tried the #6-111 for extension 111, and this also does not work.

I am sure it is a fairly simple fix if only I had a clue.

Any additional questions? I am really happy to try about anything.

You may have to get a tech for support.
Otherwise shouldn't be that hard.
