I have a T7316e set. Has 3 buttons under dial pad & label says it's a t7316e, but when it's on the system stn 21
line 1 is on 3rd key, line 2 is on 3rd key. System is a cics 7.1. It's seems like a T7316, but I thought that
on the T7316 the lines started on 4th key. Not sure what happening

T7316

The button numbering is the following:

11 [Indicators] 17
13 [Indicators] 19
15 [Indicators] 21
01 [Indicators] 06
02 [Indicators] 07
03 [Indicators] 08
04 [Indicators] 09
05 [Indicators] 10

Lines can be assigned to button 01 through 10. By default, line numbering starts on button 01.

T7316E

The button numbering is the following:

09 [Indicators] 17
10 [Indicators] 18
11 [Indicators] 19
12 [Indicators] 20
13 [Indicators] 21
14 [Indicators] 22
15 [Indicators] 23
16 [Indicators] 24

Lines can be assigned to button 09 through 24. By default, line numbering starts on button 09.

CICS 7.1 should recognize the T7316E set and treat it as a T7316E set. It's not like a T7316 set that is not recognized and treated as a M7310 set.

If you want to make sure how the system recognizes and treats the set, you can look in programming:

Terminals & Sets > 21 > User Preferences > Model

Many reasons could explain why a line ends up being assigned to button 12 on a T7316E set:

[ul]
[li]Someone could have moved the line using the Move Line Button feature (Feature *81).[/li]
[li]Other lines or other target lines could already be assigned to buttons 09 and 10.[/li]
[li]Hunt groups could already be assigned to buttons 09 and 10.[/li]
[/ul]

Thanks a few things to check. It was a brand new set on a refurn cics with 7.1. Startup was done, lines were added
and sets plugged in. That is how T7316e came up as default. All the other sets wete T7208's and came up fine.
Maybe try another T7316e and see what happens to that.

So, you're saying that Line 1 was assigned to button 11 automatically.

Can you tell what is currently assigned to buttons 09 and 10? You can use Button Inquiry (Feature *0) to find out.

Nothing should happen. If you replace a set by another one of the same model, the buttons assignment remains the same.

line 1 was assigned to B11, line 2 was assigned to B10 at start up
I am going to get another set and try it Thanks

It can happen if Line 2 was assigned to the set before Line 1. In this case, Line 2 would have been assigned to the first available button, which is button 10. Then, Line 1 would have been assigned to the second available button, which is button 11.

You didn't tell what was assigned to button 09. It might help explain why the line numbering started on button 10.

If you want to put Line 1 on button 10 and Line 2 on button 11, you can use Move Line Button (Feature *81), as norstarboy125 suggested.

Button 9 came up call park. I will use f*81. I terminated the trunks
after startup (only 2 for now -getting 2 more) then plugged the sets in
and that's the way the T7316e came up button 9(call park),button 10 (line 2)
button 11(line 1).I was expecting the T7316e would come up button 9 (Line 1),
button 10 (line 2) as default. I can use f*81 and can look at
Terminals & Sets > 21 > User Preferences > Model. I'll check that out
when I add lines. Thanks for all your comments, I just got in my head
that the T7316 was not, even though the label & buttons under dial
said it was.

Lines can get out of order if you program line 2 to appear, release from your session, then go back into programming and program line 1. You'll then find line 2 above line 1 on the phone. For Call Park to be on top you must have done a startup with PBX as the template, although typically Call Park should have been over-written with the programming of the first line appearance.

You can always do another startup with squared template. That will give line 1 & 2 as the top two buttons.

Thanks again. I thought I did startup as square, but I could of had finger trouble.I will check
that when I add the new lines.
