Does anyone know the operating voltage of a T7316E? We have installed Circa building entrance protectors on each end of a 50 pair burial cable. The cable is in pipe and properly grounded. These Circa building entrance protectors use 5 pin modules and are sold based on the operating voltage used - from CO to station. Circa said to contact Nortel however I haven't had any reply back yet.

I looked on the Nortel website for some tech data however "no documents available" was the response I got.

I need to fuse these correctly.

Thank you in advance.

nortel doesnt support off premise stations over copper so i do not think they will be responding. From experience i think the phones blow at about 25/30 vdc and run at 19 to 21.Will work at lower voltage but will begin to lose audibles"ringer and speaker" at 16 then go dead at arround 12-14.Standard fuses will not work and again even if you drop to a 45 v fuse it will still blow. There are fuses that work but remember they are needed at both ends..

Thanks Lugerlover...I sent the info directly to Circa for the their take.

I found an auto-resetting lightning protector (transguard TLP-X-57) that lets you use the standard ATT/lucent/avaia/whateverthehecktheycallthemselvestoday abuilding entrance protection as the main protection off of the cable then the transguard is connected on as a secondary and it protects the phone/ports from whatever the entrance protection lets by.

my source is BEST communications in St. Paul MN.

Norstar Digital Station specs are:
Minimum Voltage – 10 Volts DC
Maximum Voltage – 24 Volts DC
Current Idle – 45 mA
Current Active – 80 mA

Nortel recommended Sneak Current Protection providers are:
ITW Linx
Raychem
ONEAC
EDCO

Note that the addition of Sneak Current Protection typically reduces the loop limit of a digital set by 200 feet.

Do you have the contact info for Best Communications? Nothing comes up when I Google it.

I have a customer that loses several Norstar stations each time it storms with major lightning. There are some long runs all with in spec and all demarcarations are protected with groung block current limiting blocks.

Any suggestions are welcome!
Thx again,

Craig

Thanks Edmonton, I gave the specs to Circa and they did have a module in that range.
