The problem is on a CICS with T7316 phones. Client has two phones close to each other and when both phones are in use, the persons using the phones cannot hear the party they are talking to, the sidetone from the person sitting next to them is louder than the party on the other end of the call. It seems like the microphone in the 7316 has too much gain. The phones are about 10ft apart.

Any Ideas......

Hi daver56,
It sounds like you may be experiencing feedback from the close proximity of the phones. If you can space the phones farther apart or turn them to lessen the feedback this should fix your problem. Hope this helps.
Good luck,
John

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than to have a frontal lobotomy

Due to the layout of the office, the phones are set up as well as can be... I would think that 10ft should be enough.

I was just wondering if there was an issue with the T-series phones, I have not had that much experience with them, This is the only install that I have delt with where more than one T-series phone is in the same office. I just recently gained this customer, and I did not install this system. I have several locations where I have M-series phones even closer than these are and have no problems at all. Is there a microphone volume control somewhere that I am not aware of on these phones.

Yes, this is an issue. I have the identical problem in several offices where there are two sets within close proximity (i.e. reception areas, shared/noisy offices). I've switched handsets, changed volume control from "sets" to "system", all to no avail. The only thing that works is headsets. Hopefully, someone will come up with an after-market fix.

Can you provide a part #? I just checked their website and it isn't clear as to which handsets are compatible.

Thanks,

Nortel made a handset for the unity phones. It is a M style but it will fit in the T style. It should cost about $40.00 US
