I have a customer who have a T1/PRI and has their facility in the middle of nowhere. They continually have trouble with their T1 going down and they are wanting to move their T1 closer to the city and run it back to them over fiber. This is actually quite feasible as the fiber is already laid.

My question is, do they make reliable Fiber Optic to T1 converters? Has anyone had any personal experience with them? Any brands you would recommend?

I ask here, because if I cannot find good T1 to fiber optic converters I will need to setup an IP office at the second location and SCN it back to the main location. Would that be a better idea anyway?

Thanks!

I've used the RAD boxes for WiFi to T1 as well. Worked like a charm. Their tech support is pretty good as well.

Awesome, I will use them. Thanks for the recommendations!

We installed this tonight and I keep getting a yellow alarm. The RAD FOM-E1/T1 equipment is functioning properly (none of the error LEDs are lit).

The IP Office works fine at the location with the smart jack, but at the remote location on the other end of the FOM E1/T1 I get a yellow alarm.

Anyone have any clue as to why this might be? I'm trying to send a NI2 PRI signal down it.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks!

have you tried a crossover cable. a t1 cross. pin 1 crosses with 4 and 2 crosses with 5

We tried that with the same results.

We had to have a T1 crossover on the end where the smart jack is located or the FOM E1/T1 gave an electrical error.

I have tried both a straight through and a T1 crossover cable at the remote end with a yellow alarm in each case.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are up and working with the RADirect FOM E1/T1 converters. The error that I was having earlier with the yellow alarm turned out to be a bad crossover cable. Thanks!
