Our T1 was installed a few months back, since the install the service will intermittently go down. Lately it's going down every 30-60 minutes. That forces me to perform a reset on the DCH and Loop.

In attempts to resolve the issue we have replaced the TMDI card (for the 3rd time). The cards have come from other known working systems. This however has not resolved the problem.

Yesterday I opened another ticket with our LEC to investigate the issue. We've put the PBX into free run for the time being and believe the problem is related to the slippage on the line.

I read a post that advises below...

"Go to LD 73 and print your DDB. Look at the prompts LFAC and BIPC and I will bet that these are not set to 0(the default is 2 and 3). Set those prompts to 0 and you will probably not have to dial in and reset the T1 circuits. When the counter reaches the limits set in the DDB it quits trying to reestablish the T1 and you have to dis able and reenable the T1 loop."

I need to know the commands to change LFAC and BIPC in LD 73 as they are set to 2 and 3. I would like to try setting them to 0 to see if it stops the T1 from going down while I am waiting for the TELCO to investigate.

Help is appreciated.

The PRI went down again this evening. I checked and there is no slippage on the line...

I had to deal with complaints from the site all day (intermittent outages), I don't know what the next steps are.

T1 tested fine by telco
several cards replaced

T1 keeps going down, no alarm... FE DSBL ISA

Checked today, pri was down and slippage was at -805.

Did you put LD 60 in the (MIDS LD17)? That will reset the counters every night.

Th RCNT is a one time thing, you could keep doing LCNT and if the counters are up them do a RCNT.

LCNT List Counters
RCNT Reset Counters

In all my 39 years in Teleco and 27 years working on Nortel only twice has it been a Nortel switch problem, all the 100+ other times it has been the Telco. The problem is the phone companys have let go MOST of the good techs and the one's left don't know how to test. the last five times I had this type of problem it was a BAD card in the SLIC just down the block from the building. I would ask to speak to a manager and keep reporting it 4 times a day until they fix it.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

I will add it however the PRI is going down every 20-30 minutes, until this short up time is resolved the nightly routine won't matter much.

Good suggestion (post fix), I will make sure it's added.

Thanks,

Which clock are you tracking on? or are you still in FREE RUN?

I would check with other Vendors to see if the can give you service quickly and let the present LEC know you are locking for a new Vendor. Don't talk to the ticket taker when you call, as to speck to a repair manager. do you a Account Rep?

Make sure the cable or CSU is not running near and old cook recorder if you have one. I have see a CSU sitting on top of one of those reset every time the recording recycled and open and closed the contacts.

What kind of CSU do you have? You can try to bypass the CSU on a temporary basis to see if that is causing your problems.

Set the BIPC and LFAC to 0 so you will not have to reset the T1 manually. If they are anything other than 0 you will have to reset manually once the counter limit is reached.

Demand a vendor meet with the PBX tech and the T1 tech. Even if they work for the same company they are normally not the same person.

Another test you can do is unplug the cable from the dmark and loop the T1 back to the PBX reset the counters after it is green and then watch and see if they increase.

to loop RJ45 pin 1->4 and 2->5
To loop DB15 Pin 1->3 and 9->11

Good luck

Thanks to all who provided assistance with this. The trouble has been resolved.

I had to engage an mtc provider to validate the switch configuration and hardware. Nortel also advised both were good.

I demanded a conference call with my PRI provider yesterday and demanded that they re-engineer the PRI and cut-over the service onto it. This happened at 3:15 yesterday and there has been no trouble since.

thanks again,
