Had a point to point T1 between two systems. That got removed and a T1 for voice was ordered. I configured the board per the carrier but it didn't seem to work. They came out and were able to directly connect to the circuit and make test calls.

The board was working with the point to point so I'm thinking it is something in the old programming that is stuck in there causing this not to work.

I'm wondering what could be wrong? Is there a way to set the board related programming back to factory and start over or is there something else that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.

If it only were still working. I logged back in and the red light was on again. Didn't really see any errors so I Unequipped all channels to see if that would get the light off. It didn't. Should that do it if everything about the DS1 is configured?

Hi zeromeg,

I didn't realize the 100DCD had a built in CSU, all the systems I've worked on w/ T1 have 100D modules and external CSUs. The 100DCD was introduced when the MAGIX came on the market I guess, since the only docs I could find on it are covered in the MAGIX practices..

It is interesting that AT&T/LUCENT/AVAYA has so many flavors of TYPE1 E/M, must be some sort of timing issue? 1A, 1C, 1S.... At the physical level all it is is a pair of wires, E and M. When I worked with this in the recent past, be it on T1 or analogue microwave we never did anything different for 1A/C/S. (for anybody's benefit)

You mentioned there are no new error codes related to the 100DCD? You want to check the LEDs on the NIU (or Smartjack) and see what it shows. Typically the RED indicates loss of receive signal or lack of clock synch. Did the service provider do something to the circuit? There are tests you can perform in maintenance to check things. You can try those. It would be a good idea to have the docs handy since they give some explanations. Although the simplest test is to make a loop plug and put it into the modular jack on the 100DCD and see if the alarm clears. You can make one by putting leads from pins 1 to 4 and 2 to 5 on an 8 position modular plug if you have the tool. If not just take an old patch cord and cut one end and tie the wires accordingly to do the same thing.

Hope this helps!
