The manuals both have conflicting statements. Do I make the t o c before or after I type the book? I am concerned if I type the book 1st and then I find out thats not what they want I may have to retype it. Looking forward to hearing from someone smarter than I am. THANKS

No one seems to know!
In my old aldus pagemaker it looks like the book comes first and then you can add the t o c.

Hope this helps some one else thats new to pagemaker plus 6.5 Tiffie

The book comes first, and TOC uses marked lines.
This is better understandable for Table of Indices
(and also more useful, because a TOC can be easily written
manually). Obviously one has to mark a text to add it
automatically to the Index Table. ----Gernot

Regarding the typing of t o c before or after the book.
Thank you so much for the answer. I appreciate the time and effort to assure me on this matter. 300 pages is a lot to do over if I was wrong. Again thanks a million

Tiffie: thanks for the feedback. The PM User Guide
offers much help about. It´s probably necessary to train the
TOC and TOI features using a small document.
PM can "book" several chapters, each one file,
into a complete document, including the TOC and TOI.
But: booked files cannot have hyperlinks across the files.
If you want to create Web versions of brochures, everything
has to be written in one file.
