systray icons not being displayed

WinXP Home SP2 on Sony Laptop... Icons in systary keep disappearing. I have tried setting services (volume etc.) to always show icon. Icons still go AWOL. I have unchecked hide inactive icons....still no luck. I have several items running (probably more than I should) but only about half of them show up. Any suggestions?

The new Tweak UI for XP has the option to disable all icons in the notification area.

This is the easiest way to clean them all.
You could of course use Tweak UI again to enable them.
