System32 Config Error!!!! HELP!!!!!!

I am on my old computer but when i turn on my new computer it shows the intel screen, then comes to like a boot menu saying system32/config/ is missing/ corrupt
i have trying opening in safe mode, i have tried last configuartion, basically everything, i put my disk in and what not still nothing
NOTE: i cant even get to my login screen so please dont reccomend anything that consist of start menu.... etc
HELP PLEASE!!!!!
i dont want to have to reformat, and even so idk how i would, it wont let me do anything!

nope, tells me to remove the disk or media after i restart it, then when i take them out or put them back in in the menu, it just says system config error again, which is pissing me off

Is the Bios setup to allow you to boot from CD ahead of the hard drive?

You might be able to make use of BartPE (a mini XP self contained on a bootable CD and run from CD).

You can do the same with XP. Don't install any unnecessary programs just some virus scanners, keep the parallel installation as simple as possible.

You could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

I have fixed this problem before using the MS KB article referenced by Erik above. Also, you could try to attach the hard drive from your new computer that won't boot to your old one, then in the RUN window type d:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe (if your drive is some other letter than d, choose the appropriate letter)
This should bring up the system restore screen for that drive, at which point you could choose a restore point. After that, shut the computer off and reattach the drive to your new computer and then start it up. I think this will work.

System Files missing, ergo no Boot... best do what Linney suggest by the Following...
