All docs and discussions I have seen on the system.web.ui.design namespace assume it is available without any special steps. On my vs.net installation (enterprise architect) and others at my company, it seems to be missing. Is there any trick to access it?

Ok, I figured it out. You need to add System.design.dll to the project's References folder.
