System state cant backup

I have 7 servers and all but one backup the system state fine. The 6 IBM servers are ok but the HP server will not back up its system state. Our main backup is Veritas10 which fails to backup the system state on this server.

I booted the HP server into safe mode and ran NTBackup to backup just the system state to a folder. It failed with a time out message. I have asked our DR folks and they cant help.

Anyone seen this before I have no idea where to go from here any help would be most welcome

Thanks but no thats not it, Also its just a member server.

Looking at the veritas error its states that the registry is croupt ! I have used regedit to export the registry and the server is running ok is it posible that some thing is locking it ?

Fixed it after 3 days of net searching !

After trying loads of diffrent searches I found this so may well help some one else one day.
