Hi all,

We received an old IBM SP2 system with 5 nodes. On 3 nodes AIX boots fine.
On 2 systems, the system only gives us a "greater then" prompt (>), when the system is powered on.

I assume we are in a system monitor or something. How can we get out of it, and start the OS?

The only connection to the system is through a serial connection on a laptop.

Thanks in advance,

Sjaak Laan

Hi Slaan,

Are all the nodes the same type ?

Open an s1term to the nodes and watch them boot, then you will know what is happening. It sounds though like you are at an sbb prompt. Check to see that the nodes are set to disk and not maintenance.

I would verify the node is set to normal and run setup_server and then nodecond on the node and open an s1term and watch it boot.

My guess is it is a high node.
