System restore problem 1

It goes through the process, the computer switches off then on again, and it tells me it could not restore. It doesn't matter which restore point I use, the result is the same.
Can anyone help?

System restore is bugged and will not restore to any point vreated after Sept 8, 2001. Microsoft has supposedly released a patch to correct the issue but I have heard mixed results about it. You can type scanreg /restore in the run box and restore the registry back about 5 days. Other than that, you are probably SOL. Good luck.
