Cannot restore from any point and when I put a cd in the drive it is not recognizing it. Does this indicate I need a new computer? I have a Gateway laptop
Thanks
Pat
Are you able to get into windows normally, or from safe mode? If you are see if you can get another CD to run. You need to try and find out if it is your CD Rom that is bad or a possible issue with the CD. Good Luck
There are two ways to restore your Gateway Laptop.
1. From Restore Disk or
2. From Restore Partition of your hard drive (provided restore partition is not deleted)
From your post I see that you tried the first method. You may have to change boot sequence in your BIOS setup.Hit F2 when you are booting and go to setup,go to advanced settings ,change first boot device to CDROM.press F10,save and exit.Try to boot again and Restore cd must run.
If this does not work go for second method. Restart system and hit F11 after Gateway logo is gone.Recovery will start.Read online instructions and choose required options.
