System refresh

Starting to have a few glitches with Win 8.1. Running slow.
Checked memory, System Restore, hard drive (fragmented), Malware Bytes, Spybot, all of the usual.

Decided to do a "Refresh". Made a system back-up (Windows would never screw up!), and ran "Refresh". Got a message that files were missing - "insert media"!

Since I started with Win 8.0, and upgraded as I went along, I have NO media for 8.1! Tried the Win 8 CD, but "Wrong Media".

How do I refresh with no media available?

Win 8.1 (up to date)
1 Terabyte H.D.
8 gig mem.

O.K. I'm on the right track! I disabled a bunch of "Add-Ons" from Firefox. Already put the security ones back in! So far so good. I can view You Tube again, and I'm posting this using F.F.!

Now, I'll use it for a few days, and put one the 22 "disabled" back in... a couple a day.
