We have a XP machine that is running at nearly 100% on the system process most of the time, we have uninstalled the anti virus incase it was that causing the problem and also the PC won't shut down just hangs on the blue background screen.

Check CPU usage( under processes) in task mangler to see what is using it.

Best regards,
Van

I am experiencing the same problem on a cple of machines. We have also noticed that certain applications cause the system CPU usage to run at 100%. I have noticed that it accurs with graphics intensive programs, and games (UT and MOHAA). I have also checked dxdiag.exe and found that DirectX 3D diags fails with a memory error and suspect that it might be video drivers. MS and HP support have both failed to suggest anything. I would love to hear if there is a cure.

I had an application the was hogging CPU cycles, so I tried running it in Windows 2000 compatability mode. It runs great now. If 2000 doesn't work try 9x. Vince Grice
