Hi

We received Avaya kit with 2x Dell R620 AES servers and 2x HP DL360G8 CM servers.

We also got system platform cds with id: 700508413.

According to the doc, we install system platform and then the solution template. However the system platform cd is not booting. When you open the cd from windows, there is a named rpm file only. Not sure if this is the one to boot with or this one just contains some features.

i understand the Xen virtualization platform is installed with the system platform so you can add CM, CMM, AES servers etc.

In addition the system platform doc, its mentioned that the services port for the Dell and HP servers is on eth1 which in LOM2. I connected laptop with crossover, switch, unintelligent switch and still could not ping the IP 192.11.13.6.

I can ping the services port on the G450 just fine. Not sure if the services port on the server gets activated after system platform install or is active out of the box?

Kindly help.

i do apologise for the noob question.

Those servers should boot off the system platform disc.

Hi wpetilli. Are you saying the cds I have should be able to boot up? I am under the impression I need other cds/dvds for booting??

Yes, the actual process is to connect to the server with a crossover (I'm assuming you have the instructions on what to set your Laptop IP etc), have a continuous ping going to 192.11.13.6, with the CD in the drive turn on the server and when you get a reply from that IP you'll use putty to telnet to 192.11.13.6. From there you should see a menu, which takes you through the system platform install.

It sounds like your cd had a patch only. A system platform bootable Cd is an iso image file that when you burn as an iso has a root file structure on the disc. To say, you probably didn't use a bootable Cd. What was the release string on it?

I would say Kyle is bang on , Avaya have sent out only the patch DVD on three separate occasions in the last three months , but it states its the system platform main disk.

You will need to down load the full iso from PLDS.

Also check this link as you may face this issue even if you have the correct Media.
APSS (SME)
ACSS (SME)
ACIS (UC)

These are DL360's not S8300's... you should be able to install with a keyboard/video and no laptop required.

Thanks all. I managed to download and install from the correct dvd from plds. The one I got is definitely a patch dvd.

Thanks again.
