I have a problem with two Windows sites. This problem did not exist when the server OS was NT 4. It only started after we migrated to Windows 2000 Server.

We have a number of shared folders on the server with security permission applied. When a user opens a file (word, excel) the PC sometimes hangs for a minute or two before opening the file. Similarly, when saving files, the PC also sometimes hangs and will can return an error stating that the file is in use or is corrupt.

Any ideas

John

Thanks, I have read the article but I don't believe this will solve the issue. I can copy multiple files no problem. The problem only manifests itself occasionally when I open either a single small or large file from a network share.
