I get the following error frequently.

"The keyboard driver specified by the KEYBOARD=line in the [386Enh] section of the SYSTEM.INI file is incompatible with the current version of Windows. To correct the problem, run Windows Setup again."

This occurs when a DOS window needs to be opened, by me or even an Application install or virus update.

If I try to open a DOS window just after rebooting, it does not occur. This is how I get around it.

Everything associated with keyboard in the system.ini file is perfect ( I compared it to other PC's).

I think this started after I tried installing an HP keyboard that had special keys (Installed their software). I then removed the keyboard and software.
I have tried deleting the keyboard and having windows then detect it.

PS: I am pretty knowledgable of PC's

what is your current "KEYBOARD=" line in your system.ini? I'd bet that whatever file it points to should be replaced. I'd extract the appropriate file from the windows CABS. David Moore

If the offending line in system.ini is correct then you probably have something left in the registry relating to the HP keyboard. Have you tried reloading windows?

The ultimate solution was: extract keyboard.drv from cab file, and replace the existing one with it.

So far I have not had the error..

Thanks David Moore for the fix....

KEYBOARD ERROR CONTINUES. I have it again.

I tired running all normal apps yesterday and then msdos and I did not have the error.

This morning when I tried msdos, I got the error.

Possibly it occurs after Seagate Backup Exec runs ( I run it automatically fater hours each night).

I will try that today...
