My AIX system crashed the other day and I'm not sure if I should call IBM hardware. I've looked into the Redbooks and it looks like a memory problem, but any advice you can give would be appreciated.

It came back up and is running okay, but any advice on what I should pursue?

Thanks.

You can open a problem report by calling ibm support line & they would pursue on this. You will probably need to send them the output of "snap -a" (this will take some time).

If you want to see where it has crashed you can run crash at the prompt...

$ crash "dump filename" "/unix"
> t -mk

see the stack trace, as where it has crashed, like for example in filesystem, vmm, or wherever.

Put your stack trace and a brief history of what different you did which might have caused this crash. If it is a known problem someone can as well tell you the fix here itself.
