I am using Pervasive SQL and would like to create another company, do I need to create a system database? or one system database can handle multiple companies? I am using ACCPAC 5.3.

Thanks.

Thanks; Please provide some insight about system database, what is the purpose of system database? Is it an interface between application and operating system?

When I try to create a new company database with existing system database, I get the error "Unable to connect to the database (error = 98)". Do I need to logoff all other users to create a new company database?

Thanks; Login was causing the problem. I have created a new company and trying to activate modules but when I select a module, nothing happens and DBSPY is showing following error:

==>A4W error:121, DBMS error:9

Something still isn't right about your Pervasive setup. Maybe permissions. Or UNC still isn't correct, you would see that in DBSPY.

It's having trouble connecting to the system database, almost like it's read-only.

Try running this activation on the server, not a workstation.

I am running it from the server. System database's security setup is checked for Classic and also checked for Unable application Security. Do you think I should create another system database?

You might as well, something's screwy. Or, backup the current one, then do a dbdump/dbload of just the system database.

I was able to activate all modules after logging off all users. Do you still feel that I should create a new system database?

No. That explains the problem, there were some locks on it. It should have let you activate a new company. But then again, I haven't used that version in years, it had its quirks.
