Partner system 7.0 with VM PC Card. I downloaded the VM Online Guide and have been programing in order, but when I get to the system administrator info, I dial left intercom, 777 and nothing happens. What have I done wrong. Thanks- bllybb

Yes, skip, I've done that. I even redid it after your post to be sure- still the same result- nothing. Maybe I'm on the wrong track. My ultimate goal is to get rid of the dxd answering after 1 ring. I've reprogrammed every thing I can see to do in the main manual that could cause this, and then I decided it may be doing this because of the vm card. That's when I downloaded the vm online guide and started programming the vm options. As I said when I get to the info about the system admin, thats where I'm at, and the reason for the initial question.

Thanks-

Bllybb

You may have a bad VM card. Call Ext. 78 and 79 directly, instead of 777. What happens? If it answers with the VM log in prompt, the card is OK and the problem is ACS programming. If it doesn't answer 78 and 79, it's time to replace the card.

Start there, and lets see where it goes.

Tommy-
Thanks. dialing ext 78 & 79 got responses, so I guess I need to do a system reset and start over. right? it's no problem- I've started from the top about 4 or 5 times.

Thanks-

Go ahead and default the switch. Put 78 and 79 in Hunt Group 7. Put an "auto-intercom" button for 78 and 79 on the phone you're using, so you can see if they actually answer. I have seen some that will answer, but not provide any audio. If they answer, you will see the light next to the auto intercom button come on.

If they answer, but you don't hear anything, try dialing *8-(an extension number)-#, and see if they can "hear" you. (This will transfer your call to another extension.)

If they can hear you, try blindly (or is it deafly) the default sequence for the voice mail card and see if that restores it. (Search on this forumn for the default code - I won't post it myself)

when you say left intercom are you trying to get in like you do system progrom ?

(featr 00 left intercom )

what you should be doing is pushing either intercom buttom then 777 (no ftr no 00)

I guess I'm a big dummy (and can't read to boot). I completely initialized the system- took the batteries out and unplugged it. I reprogrammed everything, and still the same results. I can't access the system administrator, and the dxd is still answering both lines after 1 call. I programmed dxd as "not assigned" on both lines, and the dxd answer delay to 8 rings on both lines. Any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks-

Before defaulting the R7, make sure you have ext 78-79 in the proper hunt group. Do this by pressing
Feture 00
left icom
left icom
press #505
press 7 at group prompt
press 78
press next item until it says 1 = assigned to group
press #505
press 7 at group prompt
press 79
press next item until it says 1 = assigned to group

press Feature 00

press intercom 777, voice mail should answer.
If VM does not answer, try turning the ACS off or remove power, then turn back on. try calling 777 again.

The VM card seems to be answering so it seems like a ACSR7 problem or a programming problem.

If you look at avaya.com, hit the documentation link
hit the P link
hit the Voice messaging PC card link
select the release number from the drop down menu(probably R3 if recently purchased new)
Select admin and system prog link
Select admin and system prog link again
download or view the PDF file

The PDF walks you right through setting up the VM and ACSR7 set up, including the ACSR7 programming for use with the VM card.

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

Thanks Skip, Tommy and Arenot-

That cured many problems and the manual was very helpful, however, it created some more issues.
1) Now, none of the telephones are ringing
2) The Automatic Line Selection has reverted back to left intercom. I have tried to reset it to line 1, and line 2 but my changes don't take.
3) When I lift the handset and push line 1 button, it sounds like it is dialing a telephone number.

Thanks for any more help-

One more problem I thought of- every 30 minutes (on the half-hour and on the hour) a different extension phone rings (three rings on intercom #2).

Thanks again-

bllybb

I think that you are programming your phones into Hunt Group 7. Only the Voice Mail ports should reside there.

Here's what I would do:

Default the system (again)

Do these programs steps ONLY

Feature 00
Left Intercom Twice
#505-7-78-1
#505-7-79-1
#306-78-10
#306-78-10
Feature 00

Now see if Voice Mail answers when you press Intercom and dial 777

If so, you are on the right track.

For each extension that will have Voice Mail, do #310-XX-1

For each line that will be answered by the Auto Attendant, do #206-7-NN-1

To set the number of ring before the Auto Attendant answers, do #506-(1 for Day or 2 for Night)-LL-X

Let us know how it goes.

Tommy-

You were right on track. I did what you said, and everything is working perfectly- even the fax machine on the "spill over" line 2 is picking up. We'll try the voice mail next week.
Thanks so much!!!
