We have a 200ICP. We set up a system abbreviated dials as follows (using 3333 as a sample ext no.): "3333*9*6" and "3333*9*8". The digit string *9 means pause and *6 is supposed to insert caller ID, *8 is supposed send digits of calling party. Besides the fact that what we are trying to do isn't working, when you forward another extension to this speed dial via form 9, the call fwding shows the speed dial as 333374 for the 3333*9*6 and 333375 for 3333*9*8.
I get that the 7 must be the pause instead of the *9 but what the heck are the 4 and 5? I wouldn't care but this is actually causing the system the send the actual digit of 4 or 5 instead of the calling party extension.

*8 & *6 are used for sending CallerID via ONS ports.

What are you trying to do?

Ditto, What are you trying to use the speed call for?

Typical use is inband integration with analog voicemail

We are trying to do our own fax server whereby we set up 50 or so DIDs each with a corresponding email address. This way our customers can "fax" us docs which will go to an email address. We have a hunt group of analog ports that are connected to the fax server. The problem is that the fax server needs to know the last 4 digits of the DID in order to convert to an email address. We set up extensions using the last 4 digits of the DID and want that info to get carried forward to the server. *6 and/or *8 look like they should do the trick but as I said below *6 sends a 4 and *8 sends a 5 instead of the caller ID of the DID extension dialed.

This sounds familiar. I believe you posted earlier and said you were using the DID translation table and terminated to speed calls.

If you are still using the DID translation table you cannot use the *6 in the speedcall because technically at the time the Speedcall is accessed no DN on the system had been dialed yet.

If you want to use the *6 you must create the DN's to forward to VM as Phantom extensions or Phantom keys.

The Phantom extensions may consume licensing, I'm not sure,

You had stated that what you had before worked, why mess with a good thing?
