Our company is moving from Novell to WinNT. During testing of WinNT, we created a directory to hold the dummy or test set of companies (M:\Macola99\...). Everything went beautifully. Now, we have moved the ACTUAL companies to a directory on the WinNT server called (M:\Macola75\...).

When trying to start Macola, we are getting the error "Syspass.btr is not open". We have Btrieve 6.15 running on the server, it was installed and configured when the dummy companies were created.

After getting the error, I deleted all the temp files from the USERS directory. What else do I need to do?

By the way, the dummy companies in M:\Macola99\... are still working. Does it have anything to do with the different directory names?

Thanks,
Ben

There are different versions of Btrieve for NT and Novell, and this could likely be the problem. Also btrieve 6.15 is not even supported any more. Also 7.5.102 is very old as well, is there any reason why you are running such old code?

Look in the Macola75\technote directory for anything that may cover this. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

We are moving from Macola to Mas200 corporate wide. We need the system to run for about another 3-6 months. We have had bids on getting it upgraded, more than $15,000. Obviously not a good option. We purchased this company and they used Macola, we use Mas200.

I will look in the technote directory. I will have to find the directory, because it was not off the Root.

Thanks,

I get the same error, Error 031 on file M:\macola70\screens\syspass.btr - message #0431

I have a win 2003 server, win 2000 workstations, all with latest service packs. Now, if I log on as admin, or join my regular users to the Domain admin group, all works well. If I log on as a regular Domain User, I get this error.

It seams like a Windows permission issue?

Thanks Steve Barak.

All users must have full rights to the Macola root directory. This is most likely your problem.

No, I just did that. I added Domain user, Full Control to the root of the share.

I also added full control for Domain users on the HKLM Software, Macola - Betrive - Pervasive software, keys.

Thanks!

If you are on Windows server 2003, you must assign full control at the "Share" Folder level (e.g. MacAPPS). A share in 2003 by default is set to "Read" only. That may be why the admin account works and the domain users do not. It may be worth checking.

And not just the share but all directories below the share and all of the files as well.
