does anyone know how to set up an ARN router to send events to a syslog server? I tried setting it up on one but with no success. The server DOES work because I have an Accelar 1200 sending events and it is recieving them fine.
The settings i have put in using site manager are:

Global Settings
enable: Enable
Maximum Hosts: 5
Log Poll Timer: 5

system Host Table
Ip address
Messaging:Enable
Host UDP port:514 (same as on syslog server & Accelar)
Host Local Facility:Local7 (same as on Accelar)
Host time Seq: Enable
No Filters

thanks for any help

update-
i got it working
i had to put a wildcard filter in there, set up the severity mask for warning, info, critical, and trace. i also had to put slot lower bound as 1 and upper bound as 1.

How do I perform password recovery on bay arn via telnet or otherwise.

you have to be consoled into the ARN to perform this

1.Power cycle the ARN.
2.When the ARN starts cycling through Power On Diags, type Ctrl C followed by a carriage return. This will put you in diagnostic mode and you will see the following prompt:

Diag_1>

3.At this prompt, type in the following command exactly:

d/l/n:5 410000 0

This sequence will blank out the Manager password in NVRAM.
4.Type boot or power cycle the ARN. There is no longer a Manager password.

You also need to mention the slot information in the Syslog settings ,
Just select slot 1 ( by default this is 0 )
and then through the bcc ---

show syslog base ( and other syslog commands) , check that the operational state is enabled .

I just made this working 2 days back
