syntax error on Filter 1

I can not get this code to work. I am getting a syntax error, but I am not sure what I can do to fix this.

Me.Filter = [Date] = "Between '&[forms].[fM_ScrapControl].[start]&' And '&[forms].[fM_ScrapControl].[end]&'"
Me.FilterOn = True

Perhaps this ?
Me.Filter = "[Date] Between #" & [Forms]![fM_ScrapControl]![start] & "# And #" & [Forms]![fM_ScrapControl]![end] & "#"
