Synoptics 28115 service port 1

I recenly purchased a 28115 switch i did not get
the service port cables. i need to find a diagram
how to wire the rs232 into rj45.

and how to access the service module managment software.
i need tho set up my ports.
i am in a bind.
any help is greatly appreciated.

It is a DB9 on the host end (or whatever your host prefers) and a RJ45 on the 28115 end.


DB9 side RJ45 side
Rxd 3 3
Gnd 5 5
Txd 2 6

(the thread "Firmware Image for 28115" has links to the manuals, I also wrote a FAQ you may want to read on setting up your 28115) I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

How would i access the software module on the service port.

I have no clue i have tried evrey thing
to get into the settings.

this assumes Windows, if you use a Mac or unix I will try again.

Start>programs>accessories>Hyperterm

set it NOT to use a modem but the COM port you plug the cable into, usually COM1. 9600 bps 8 data bits no parity 1 stop bit.

hyperterminal LOOKs like these settings take effect but they don't. Save them and quit the restart Hyperterminal. hyperterminal always runs on the settings at startup.

then try Control Y and Control C to get into the management software. I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

CAn anyone of you please help on this?? I would like to connect the Ethernet card to a board with is just only have RS232 9 pin connector, how can I convert the RJ45 from the ethernet card to RS232?? Thank you very much! And also what is the baud rate that I should put for the RS232??
