Syncing roles between visual studio an analysis services

is there a possibility to sync the local project in visual studio with the roles on server?

my version: sql server 2008 enterprise

Hi rasputin11,

I am not sure but, I do not think so. What happens on your local solution and what happens on the server are two different Cubes. What should happen is that if you make use of Active Directory and the group is created within AD and you always use the same group then that should always be the same cause it is being administred from the same place. I would thus suggest that you make use of a user group on AD. That should solve your problem.

Thx for your answer....

I 've written an app, which manages user permissions in a metadata-table-structure.

The permissions will be published via a webservice to the analysis services database (AMO, ADOMD etc).

My problem: If we change something in datawarehouse via visual studio and will publish the changes to AS all roles
will be overridden... with existing roles from visual studio project.

In my opinion there should be an mechanism to prevent this?!

I must be honest, this sounds very technical and I am sure there is a lot of detail to this. Don't think I'm the right person to help. Maybe someone else will be able to help if they have done something similiar. Unless you give me a lot mote detail to the process.
