HELP!! Has anyone ever been able to synchronize a PDA (ANY AT ALL- PALM or iPAQs) with their Citrix profile. All I want to be able to do is synch a client's Email!! I have heard that MS ActiveSync V3.5 has issues with Citrix so I have moved on to a Palm using Palm's HotSync Software... has anyone ever done this?? Our Clients are on WYSE WinTerminals (3360s) and I would like to be able to have them use their thin client. BUT, if I can't then we will set them up with theri cradle on a FAT PC/ Desktop. PLEASE help... if you know anything about doing this (ANYTHING) Please reply~
Much appreciated!!

You will need a 3rd Party product to enable you to synchronise multiple devices through Citrix, there may be others, but I have worked with two:

Intellisync Enterprise, this will work very well for Palms, but as it uses ActiveSync to synchronise CE devices, is no good if you need to synchronise with any CE devices, as Activesync doesn't work in Citrix.

XTENDConnect Server from Extended Systems, this works with Palm OS, CE and Symbian devices, it even has a connector for the new Smartphones ! We are using this on our Server Farm for around 150 users at the moment.

Both products work with re-directed Com Ports.

DaSmee,
Would you mind telling me more about this? How can I contact you? if you don't mind...
I would love to understand how you all are using the EXTND product!!

Kind Regards,
Brandon

I purchased 12 visor pro PDA's and have them all setup for synchronizing.

This is what I did:

I had to purchase serial hotsync cradles because you can't map an usb port using Citrix, hopefully someday you will be able to.

Next I installed the Handspring software which included Pocketmirror. I think you can purchase pocketmirror separately? (When you install pocketmirror, point it to com4 instead of com1 for easier mapping to client)

Then I mapped com4 to the clients com1 port. (At a command prompt: change user com4: com1:)

Then I started synced up using the instructions provide with the Handspring software.

It was actually real simple and ran smoothly!

There's one problem though! When you create the serial connection with the client, the CPU utilization is 100% constantly. I think it has something to do with polling on the com port. You should turn com port polling off by editing module.ini file. I can't remember were it is but if you get this far let me know and I'll dig around for it.

Good Luck,

Jeremy

Thanks to everyone who has responded here...
JEREMY,
belp me out here-
So, you connect the cradle (serial) to the clent (PC or a Thin Clent??)
Then you installed the pocketmirror on your Terminal Server right? Change user /install- etc.
DID the POCKETMIRROR SW try to "discover" your cradle when you installed it on the server?? I know that all the synch sw that I installed on the server always "looks" for my cradle which of course is not connected to the server!! How do I do this?

Your help is huge here!!
Thank you soooo much!!
Brandon

Brandon,

Install the software on the server without any cradle plugged in. When the software asks or says it couldn't find a cradle, it will allow you to choose a com port. I selected com4 then mapped my client to it.

Let me know...

Jeremy

Happy to discuss the Extended Systems solution, I can be contacted at: nsmee@fpdsavills.co.uk

I just have to come with an addon to the previos comment on Xtend Connect Server. This is THE ONLY SOLUTION that works with virtually all devices (CE, PALM, EPOC, Symbian) on terminalservers. It sync's against all you can dream of, Including Exchange, Notes, POP, IMAP....even ODBC-databases!
And it is rock solid on terminalservers, much because it only uses a proxy on the TS that redirects the sync to a dedicated syncronisation server. On the sync server you have vast possibilities to set up different tasks to perform, including backup and restore of your PDA, file copying and so on...you can even make your own scripts if you like. It is easy to set up, and in the last version you don't even need ActiveSync or Hotsync for the client install. Check it out on Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, I have used it for nearly two years with good experience. Best Regards
