hello all,
i have a bit of a dilema, first off let me describe what envirnment i'm working in. It is a win2k server network with 99% pc's and 1% laptop. Now on with my dilema, my boss wanted to be able to setup his laptop and use it in his office as well as at his home. To me this sounds like a job for Roaming Profiles but i didn't know how if he were to add, delete or modify a file when he was at his house ( and not logged into our network)how would that file synch up when he brought the laptop back from home and plugged it intot he network? Also what would happen if instead of plugging in his laptop first he goes directly to his office pc and logs in? Also when he was at his house he wouldn't be able to logon to the network??? Is there a way to synch up the files that were changed??? VERY CONFUSED!

Thanks, that was helpful. My next question is lets say he, my boss, wants to make a change to a file in his my documents folder. How is he supposed to get onto the laptop if it's not connected to the network to log into the server?

That is the beauty of offline folders, the best you can do is to try on one of your pcs how it works then disconnect it and try it! it really works then it syncronises to the server finding the news version of the file change.

Bordetas: MCSA/MCSE Security (only on paper) ;-P

Let me rephrase that question, he shouldn't be able to logon to the laptop if it's not connected to the domain? how do i get him logged into the laptop if the laptop isn't connected to the domain?

Is there a reason for your boss to have both a laptop and a desktop?
