I got a call from Avaya saying my DS1 facility is seeing slips. They were able to clear the error but it keep coming back. When I do a LIST SYNCH I see that I have one CSS and five PN's. Are all the Primary Sources supposed to be different? Mine are. Also, two of my PN's that Avaya just installed dont have a Primary or Secondary Source. I have S8720 servers and CM 3.1.4.

I havent had any complaints of issues from my customer but I want to get this resolved before it gets any bigger.

Here's my LIST MEAS DS1 on one of the boards:

Do a "change synchronization port-network xx" on the cabinet your having the issue with. You can chose a different T1 to pull your sysnc from. I have both " port-network & ATM" and you can change both to different T1's. I have a S8710 & S8720 Switches.

That sounds service affecting. Is it? I'd have to time this since location takes calls 24x7.

You can do it on the fly. You're already experiencing what happens without a stable sync source. Do 'disable sync', change the reference DS-1 board, then do 'enable sync'.

You should be fine with changing it. You shouldn't notice any issue when you make the change.

What about my Primary Sources all being different. Shouldn't they all have the same Primary Source, or does that not matter?

For CSS synchronization the only requirement is that both the Primary and Secondary sync source have to be in the same Port Network. For IP connected Port Networks you use DS-1 circuits within that Port Network.

One more think to add if you have sync. issue then you should have problem in fax. Pl check if have some issue with fax on your site.

RKSahoo, I havent seen any fax issues.

One of the steps for troubleshooting the MO in the Avaya manual say to make sure both endpoints of my DS1 are coded the same. They're not. But they havent changed in more than a year so I'm not sure why that would start causing problems now.
Also it says to look at the Sync source. The sources are only having issues late at night and for a short amount of time, while the MO UDS1-BD is constantly alarming.
So I guess my question is about the signaling mode... can I simply change it? Not on the synch source but the ties to the synch.
