Hi,

I use the features of W2k3 to sync files between a few laptops.
But a full sync takes a very long time.
I think it's possible to do somekind of quick check but that doesn't seem to work.

What's the best way to find out how things are configured and also what's the best and less time consuming way to configure this.

Any suggestions

Hans.

Do you mean offline files and synchronization?

How long does it take to normally save files?
Could it be a network/latency problem or a speed/duplex thing?
Are ther switches/hubs between the laptops and the servers?

You could do an xcopy and set the attributes to only copy files that have been modified.

That is of course if only one set of files is being updated i.e laptop user taking away files at night and then putting them back on the server.

Thanks for the response. I've treid a few things and found some improvements.

? What purpose does xcopy have or can have when syncronizing??

- changed the sync of all "my documents" to a limited number of files and folders. That helped a lot.

Also found that during startup the sync is done twice?
Taking up double the time needed?

Any idea what/why this is?

Hans.
