It's been years since I have done this but I need to do a full back up on a Symposium system running 3.1. The server is end of life and it has a bad raid (possibly the battery?) and a bad hard drive. I'm looking to do a full back up ASAP. We have no plans to upgrade as I am working on IPCC to replace it.

By doing a complete back up, at any time will it want to re boot or just do it without prompting?

Thanks in advance.

no a full backup does not require a reboot. you may get one if your raid is that bad. i would still do a off hour schedule backup to a remote network drive

John,

Thanks for the info. What I forgot to mention is I do not remember how to do the back up. I have a problem with backing up to the network as I only have the original Nortel issue software on it. If I try to install a third party back up, it will want to reboot the server.

So the new question of the day is, what are the steps I need to take to do a full back up to the tape drive already installed? Does the full back up pull the application as well or just the scripting and routing?
