Sympatico incoming mail server

I don't know if anyone is on sympatico or not but i'm helping someone setup their account.

I'm using the incoming mail server as they suggest, it seems to read the server no prob, but am not receiving any emials. The outgoing mail server is working fine. Sympatico has several incoming mail server addresses to use and I have tried them all. Some include:

pop6.sympatico.ca
pop8.sympatico.ca
pophm.sympatico.ca

None of these are actually gaining access to the any of the emails that are sent to the user. I tested by sending one out and it is not received. Sympatico has a page you can access to check your emails (like hotmail) and all the messages are there. Any suggestions?

Alright i'm guessing you are using Outlook Express and that you aren't getting any error message. You seem to be on the msn server meaning you should use pophm.sympatico.ca

That's not all. In the account properties window, go to the advance tab. Check off the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" for the POP server only. It will change your port to 995.

Also make sure that in connections, the checkbox is checked and local area network is selected.

These are base settings for msn sympatico servers. As for your outgoing, use smtp1.sympatico.ca
If these dont work make sure you dont get a error message AND that both sending and receiving work in sympatico-hotmail. You can also call sympatico support for help.

Did you ever get this problem solved???? Seems like I am having the same issue and sympatico only says it is my problem and not theres.
If I create this email account on another computer I still cannot recieve.(send ok) ..... and no errors, just says there are no new messages on the server. (system is a clean install)
This one has me really lost ----days like this I wonder why I am a tech!!!

yup..
pain in the butt and why sympatico does not tell people is beyond me.. liability issue maybe?

There is a conflict with either Norton or McAfee.. you need to disable the outgoing mail check. this should clear up your problem
 
Well got it working... but what it turned out was a corupt mail account on the server!...... and you know what that means "it couldn't possible their problem.
Anywasy after talking to the 6th person they admitted it was a known issue and they had it fixed the next day.
I found out the 'hm' for the new pop and smtp sever settings stands for 'hot mail' and thats were the intergation is causing the problems....
