Hello all,

Having a problem with Mail Security on outbound filtering. I have defined a rule to block any attachment based on the default match list "Sample Attachment Name", however, it also seems to be blocking attachments containing multiple "."s within the file name (i.e. file.name.version.doc). Word (.doc) is obviously an allowed format. Why would Mail Security block these files?

Thanks.

Because you are using a double wild card:

Make sure you create a rule similar to this:

if attachment name EQUALS a member of match list DOS_WILDCARD_LIST_NAME here.

You are probably doing a CONTAINS on a dos wildcard list, which is causing this to happen.

Hi oggywan - Thanks for the reply and yes I am using "CONTAINS" - I guess I can see how using that logic could mess things up. I have changed the rule to use "EQUALS". Lets see what happens.

Thanks again!
