This may be a non recoverable error involving a dead motherboard, I hope not?

Can you get your hands on a BartPE CD and see if the mini version of XP will run on that machine? If not then I might be right about the motherboard.

You might be able to make use of BartPE (a mini XP self contained on a bootable CD and run from CD).

thanks Linney,

Yes I can run ultimate boot cd, check hard disk, video card , memtest,

also try a couple of "freeware" cd tool, cpu speed, mem speed and disk...

with noluck...

My BIG concern , why xp ( or 7 ) is doing the complete installation process with no warning oe error ; and at the first reboot during installation....blue screen...

NOW I just getting one error...symbolic_initialization_failed...

the firsts days i work on that pc ; I got different bsod...

(if I remember...)
-memory initialization...
or
-page fault in non paged...

** theses errors never come back after cleaning and reseating cpu...

I will try a last cleaning and reseating of cpu...MAYBE ; I hope...

I also try to connect hard disk with pci adapter sata and ide but windows do not recognize it at installation....

BartPE might give it a better test than the applications you mention as it is a complete operating system and therefor I assume more intricate?

When it crashed would it reboot into Safe Mode?

Do any of the various Setup logs throw any light on the matter? You can also review the Setupapi.log file, the Setupact.log file, and the Setuperr.log file (in the %windir% folder) to try to determine any problems.

Setup stops responding or displays an unrecoverable error message

These (I think) are where Vista and Windows 7 log to.

C:\Windows\setupact.log
C:\Windows\Logs\DPX\setupact.log
C:\Windows\Panther\setupact.log
C:\Windows\Panther\UnattendGC\setupact.log
C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.app.log
C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log
C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.offline.log
C:\Windows\setuperr.log
C:\Windows\Logs\DPX\setuperr.log
C:\Windows\Panther\setuperr.log
C:\Windows\Panther\UnattendGC\setuperr.log

i try bartpe, no problem to load,

I did the hard disk test include, everything good...

what I can do more with bartpe ?

*********

I fool around in BIOS, change slave for master on my hard disk, and change to primary

format, reinstal xp , now I get boot.ini invalid on initial; reboot !!!!

If I was a hardware man I'd suggest you at least consider the PSU, but I'm not so I can't say that with any authority. There are hardware forums at Tek-Tips which might be worth a visit.

I'm sure we are only shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic but have a look at these. How many hard drives have you got in this machine? Can you disconnect all of them except for one basic IDE drive just to see if XP is happier with that configuration?

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

Have a look at the Fixboot, FixMbr, and Bootcfg commands.

For a successful boot, XP must access the Boot.ini file, NtLdr and NtDetect.com. These are hidden and system files on the drive that you formatted and installed to.

Have a look at this link, and the links from it, paying particular attention to any IDE compatibility mode setting in the Bios.
