hello,

our maint contract expires in a few days and due to the economy our company is trying to cut expenses (and corners). I wanted to know if we will stop getting liveupdates or can we continue once it expires?

Per symantec our server will stop auto downloading live updates which I find a bit false.

thanks.

Usually you'll get a 30-day grace period, but you should still get definition updates - you just won't get product updates.

Definitions are not free, you pay for them as part of your maintenance agreement. You'll still get your updates, you'll just be in violation of your license which may have legal consequences for you.

Running software that is not properly licensed should never be seen as a way to save on costs--all it takes is one disgruntled employee passing that information on to the vendor and the cost of the software will seem like a bargain when compared to what follows. If you can't afford to maintain your subscription, then stop using the software.

thanks guys.

we are done with sav and using kaspersky for our enterprise now. much cheaper and much faster with low cpu usage.

we were tired of the bad virus detection quality of sav anyways.
