I just installed SMS for Exchange 4.6 on my 2003 Exchange server. After navigating around the software, there is a bunch of configuration changes, I feel need to be made, but I dont know where to even start....

Can I get from all of you who use this software package to give me a few pointers as far as what should be configured?

Not sure if you have used previous versions so i will start with the basics. Ensure that you exclude all the recommended folders that are listed in the documentation. If not the server will crash.

Next thing i did was disabled mail notification to the admin account for virus notifications, it will clog your inbox.

I turned on all options in the auto-protect section, this will enable you to see if there is a virus on the network that may be scamming out of your server as well as scan mailboxes when new definitions come out.

Turn off return sender messages of infected files. This will clog your server up since most messages are from bogus addresses.

I would also recommend a different spam filter, surf control risk surfer does an average job and since it is hardware it will be faster than the symantec spam filter.

Thanks Patch for the kick-start... its much appriciated.
