I have a system on my network in the corporate environment I work in that reboots itself halfway through a Symantec virus scan. It is on Windows 2000. Anyone know how I can prevent this from happening or find out what the problem is?

I believe it does, but don't hold me to that. I'm actually waiting to troubleshoot this issue since the end user is not having any immediate problems. Computer scans take time and I'd rather work on site with this issue (I support most of my systems remotely). I'll revisit this thread when I've done some more testing.

I've heard a few times of cases where scanning particular files would cause crashes that would prompt a reboot. That was a few years ago, though, and it was usually immense .jar or .cab files...See if it can scan if you turn of scanning within compressed files.
