dear experts,

i currently have a point of sale system (vb6) with a sybase database (sybase sql anywhere v5.5.04 build #1890)
everything was working perfectly until i started having a recent problem recently...

sometimes, the server just shuts down (and disappears).

what could be the reason?

please note: the server used to have a similar program with same database engine version (but different database) and everything was working fine, and they never had any similar problems (this is why i think it's not a hardware or windows problem)

knowing that the same software with the same database and engine are working perfectly at many other locations this leaves out the option that it's my application that is crashing the server...

p.s. i noticed many entries in the messages window of the sybase db engine.
entries are as follows:

Duplicate Packet: port 52, serial xxxxxx, sequence 0 (where xxxxxx is a number)

any hints or ideas on what could be the problem?
i appreciate your help

Cheers, Dan

I guess that the sybase database on the server is crashed.
try rebuilding the database.
and bytheway if the problem still persists (which i doubt) you may play with the server page size it would increase database performance too.
