SYBASE environment variable must be set error

Hi,

I'm running Sybase 11.9 on FreeBSD 6.2. I've installed Sybase and the backup server and everything was running great until I rebooted the server. I start Sybase database server fine, but when I start the backup server I get this error:

No server log file open; Using stderr for log.
Apr 16 10:46:27 2007: Backup Server: 1.56.2.1: The SYBASE environment variable must be set.

I just rebuilt the backupserver, which fixed the problem until I rebooted the server again. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like you haven't sourced the SYBASE.sh file, which contains all the Sybase environment variables.

You can check quickly with:
env | grep SYBASE

If you're not getting a load of output, source the file with something like this (depends where you've installed sybase to)
. /opt/sybase/SYBASE.sh
