Hello

I have a document which shows how to create a linked server from Microsoft SQL Server to Sybase, and it seems very straight forward. You just set it up as a normal MS SQL linked server, but when selecting the Provider Name, you select Sybase ASE OLEDB Provider.

The problem is, I cannot find the Sybase ASE OLEDB Provider! It is not in the drop-down list. I read an article where it was suggested to download this provider from the Sybase website but I just cannot find it anywhere. I spent hours trawling the web but no luck.

As any one come across a similar problem, or know how to get around this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards
Maria

You need to install the client tools for Sybase ...
Once you do that, copy c:\sybase\ini\sql.ini to from the Sybase SERVER into the your SQL Server machine C:\Sybase\INI folder.

You should now be able to see the server and also link to it...

I hope this helps.

Enjoy.
