My work's ICP needs has been recommended to get upgraded to the current software version.

My VAR says that we'd have to do about 4 updates that take a fair bit of time.

Is it possible my VAR is recommending this method as it would be cheaper then purchasing the current version? Not sure what a standard u/g procedure is.

I was reading thru the manual that it appears that u/g's could be done via FTP.

Not to challenge my VAR, but could it be possible to install the current ver via FTP?

The version we are running is SX-200_ICP_4.0.0.17. Not sure what the latest is.

Thanks

Jim

Your VAR is most likely worried about the upgrade in terms of database conversions. The latest load I believe is 4.0.5.17, so they are correct, there are 5 upgrades to do. 4.0.0->4.0.1->etc....

Although you may get away with a straight upgrade to 4.0.5 they are probably exercising caution that things don't get corrupted in a large version jump.

This is a 200 Right?

Sequential upgrades are not required nor recommended by Mitel.

More specifically,

The release notes detail the process to upgrade directly from any release (2.0 and higher) to the Current release 5.0.

The only consideration is if the system is running on a 256Mb flash then 53XX sets will not be supported.

The latest version is 5.0.0.18 and your system can be upgraded from its present version in one step. An upgrade flash card is inserted ni the flash drive and the system is re-booted.

FTP upgrade is available to you. You should be able to make the jump to the latest version without incrementing.

FTP Upgrade is not the recommended method. It needs to be done twice if you need 53XX set support.

Flash upgrade it the recommended/prefered method.

Hi, yes sx200 icp, at the above version. there is only 1 5330 set and (murphys law) its mine.

Has an HD in it, and the flash card.

Ok I'll call them when I am off break and get their final recommendation with the info you guys have given me to make sure we don't stomp something.

Thanks!

with HD FTP upgrade is OK. I do several a month to remote locations never had a problem get a good backup before you start. You may want eyes and hands on remote end just in case.
