SX2000 Redundant system.

Hi All,
I have a issue with a SX2000 redundant system. The hard drive in plane B failed so we were operating on plane A. Someone did the DBMS flag off on the Active side the system rebooted now the data base is blank.

I have a copy of the backup that I was able to load on the Active plane however services was not restored. I also did a DBMS status and DBMS_Initialize is OFF which. I have a few question

1. Can i load the system from the good drive? if so how can it be done
2. After database been restored what needs to be done in order for the active to operate on the restored database.
3. After a DBMS save DBMS_Initialize is not set to on. what can cause that.


Any help is appreciated.

You must do a DBMS Save to set the flag to on.

The most experienced tech on the 2K in this forum rarely comes here anymore as his systems were "Upgraded" to Cisco.

However when I do a DBMS save it said save completed with out showing the percentage of it being saved

The problem here it is not showing me

It sounds like your "good drive" may not be that good, usually if the DBMS SAVE reports instantly that it has completed it means your drive is faulty. It would normally take a couple of minutes or so on an SX2K.

Issue a "data query" command. This should display details about the database that is on the drive.

Hi All,
I had to fix the redundant file corruption to get the system to come up on the one good drive until I get the replacement drive.
I notice once I did a DBMS save the system comes up and the flag is turned on. However, if i do a reboot the flag is turned off and i have to go through the process of fixing the redundant file corruption and do a database restore for the services to restore.

is there something wrong with this drive also?

Confirm the system is partitioned.
file stat redun should show isolated.

All,
I received the new hard drive. I replace the drive and did a restore of the database. While restoring the database i note a tone of error with bad data or bad card. I assumed that this error was there due to the card need to be assigned in the assignment form. However, Before I can do that I need to go to Dimension and feature and tell the system how many cabinet it has. in Dimension and feature i try to chnange from2 to 12 and i get an error " can't change the for this type Machine configuration.. or something LIKE THAT,.



Question: How do i change the cabinet setting in Dimension and feature

Also when I use the command Prtition on the inactive plane I get this error Command not supported by system - Command IGNORED what do this mean?

You need to edit the 'dim a f s' / dimensions and feature selection and enable the purchasable options then put in the password. you should have a sheet of paper with these options on it with the password.

At the moment the system doesn't know it's redundant. Or that it is allowed more cabinets.

You could phone mitel and get these details by telling them the sys id - also in the same form at the bottom.

You can enable the options when you do the data restore by answering the question "restore system dimensions from saved data" you say yes and it will ask for the password.

Then when you've enabled them, you do another restore and say no to that question the second time.

If you have lost the MOS sheet and password you may be pooched.
Mitel stopped offering additional licensing to sx2000's years ago.
Doubt they even kept the records in the AMC for what was out there after support was stopped.

For Redundant System
Activity Freeze
Partition active then inactive (check redundant file system "file stat red" to confirm isolated)
Data Save to RSD
Record usernames, passwords and alarm thresholds
login into inactive
select dimensions and features select, edit and x all the options
*** machine config is FD2 and maximum # of cabinets is 12
generate and scroll to bottom to enter password
you will get reminder to reload system
exit form
from panel reset inactive
login to inactive
dbms stat if off (if on goto !!! below)
vol mount rsd
data restore
delete old log file - yes
data save delete from hard disk - yes
if over P02.3.2
restore system dimensions from saved data - NO
vol dismount
dbms save
from panel activity switch (!!!)
logon to new active set
set date & time
dbms check on
reprogram usernames, passwords and thresholds
enable options on inactive
from panel reset inactive
join from inactive then active
check redundant system (in synch)
data save

I was able to get up and running with all your help. I was blessed I contacted MITEL and they still had the information they email it to me and I was able to get the system to normal.
