Hi Guys a friend of mine has just bought an office and the telephone system installed in it. (SX2000) Can someone give me a crash course in the type of connection lead required, which port to use, and also the user name and login as there's no doc's on site. This system isn't "live" any more and never will be, as a IP office has just been installed.
Thanks in advance

Well, here's my .02Cents, IF you are posting this you likley Don't have access to mitel E-Doc's, As there are "Gobs" of features that is documented on a Key code Sheet, also with a Serial # and other things like a magneto optical disk, and/or tape My Advice would be Call a local Mitel Dealer, in your local Yellow pages if there isn't one check on Mitel.com's web site,
If your Friend is giving you this material is She/he Expecting you to re-install it someplace Else ?

Hi Macphoneguy, thanks for the reply, it was just me being nosey really. I can't stand to have a system lying there and me know nothing about it. As you correctly guessed I have no access to E-doc's, in fact I can't find any doc's on site and certainly no key code info! My mate isn't expecting me to re-install it he just thought it might me of some use. If you say it's best I might get someone in to look at it. It just a shame I'd have to pay out to be nosey!!
Thanks once again for the post

Thanks, but I've got no login and password for that website.

Well, you sound technical enough, so here we go.
1st, locate the main control cabinet, it will be the one with at least one "Main Control Card", once that is located plug in a RS232 connection to the back labelled as "Maintenance A", you may have A & B if it is a redundant system. The comm. parameters can be changed, but by default 9600,8,N,1. Once connected and talking to the box you *should* be able to do a CTRL W to refresh the screen. *IF* you can get that far it is now time to login. Hit ESC 1 to login, your default username/passwords are:
system/sx2000
installer/sx2000
maint1/sx2000
maint2/sx2000

If none of those will work, you are pretty much screwed. Try that and let us know how you make out.

Miteltech,

Thanks for the info, but I don't think I have the correct password for the switch. I've tried the user/password combo's but no luck. I'm I entering the user name and password correctly?
Enter Username system
Password sx2000
Or do I include the "/" only asked because I assume the sx will lock me out if I enter incorrect to many times?
Can I default the system in any way or reset the password?

Thanks

Sneb

Yes, you are correct that is the default, you don't use the /. So, the username/password has been changed. If you are not a dealer, you are basically screwed. The system will lock you out after 3 attempts, if it is redundant (2 controllers) you can connect to "Maintenance B" and try over there, the default lock out time is 15 minutes, but can be changed so it may be longer.
Maybe you can get it from the installing dealer?

Sell it. If you're not using it google some resellers and sell it for some cash. They will contact Mitel for a password reset (which costs $$) and then sell the Main Control. Often they will just sell the cards within.

There's my 2 cents

Guy's thanks for all your help its nice to know people can still be bothered to help these days. Think I will sell it now it seems like the best thing to do.

cheers

Hi Mitelobi1,

Your username and password combo worked!! I'm into the system now. It seems quite easy to navigate, Thanks to everyone who contributed in this post.

Sneb

Wow! Lucky shot. Too bad it wasn't system level, then you'd be able to reset all usernames and passwords.

you could lways try s1stem as the username and 5x2000 as the password for system level
