I have a system that isn't integrated with a PMS. Is there a way for the maids, to use the Maid in Room access code along with the default room occupancy & status codes(Vacant/Clean, Vacant/Dirty, Occupied/Clean etc...) to change room status from a room? I do not know if these room occupancy & status codes are associated with a value, if they can be changed and what form to change them in.

Thanks

from the docs:

Code
Maid in Room Status
Meaning
1
Maid is in room
Maid has entered the dirty room and has dialed the room access code and the maid in room code. The Room Condition does not change.
2
No maid in room
Maid has dialed the room access code and the no maid in room code. Maid has decided to leave the dirty room after dialing in the Maid in Room code. Room has not been cleaned. The Room Condition does not change.
3
Room clean, maid not in room
The room is clean. If there is a supervisor, supervisor dials this code to indicate room has been inspected and is ready to be rented out. If there is no supervisor, maid dials this code to indicate that the room is clean and ready to be rented out. Maid or supervisor has dialed the room access code and the room clean code.
4
Room to be inspected, maid not in room Maid has finished cleaning the room.
The room is ready for inspection by a supervisor. Maid has dialed the room access code and the room to be inspected code.

as far as I know they are fixed codes

I always thought that the had no real meaning and it was what the pms was setup to interpet that mattered.

@jpruder

When you view the status via the Mitel system it will reflect the Mitel designed specs.

When a PMS system is involved, the Mitel designed statuses are meaningless

Just finished a fresh install on a mitel elx. Setup according to the mitel pms document. Feature access code 35 is the maid in room code. The pbx recognizes this code and passes it on to the pms. The pms decides the last code. The pms vendor had not set the maid codes on this system so they were getting fast busy when they entered the code.

So
feature access code 35=*7
pms codes programed by pms vendor= 2 clean or 3 dirty

dial *72= room clean
dial *73 room dirty

any other codes will result in a fast busy because the pms vendor has no matching digits.

@Billiho re:any other codes will result in a fast busy because the pms vendor has no matching digits.

Nope. The Mitel will send the status code regardless. There is no verification/handshake on valid or invalid codes.

Hmmn, Interesting. I had everything set up and when the customer tried all the codes they were saying it wasn't working and they were getting fast busies. Once the pms vendor programmed their system with unclean and cleaned codes the same codes worked fine. They are a remote site so I was not able to be on site testing myself but it seems to me that the pms wouldn't send an ACK to the pbx, so the pbx would send an error to the phone. When we were troubleshooting the system we also saw the pbx send the sts1 code to the pms system and I thought I saw an ACK from the pms get sent back. I would have to retest to verify. I do know that it didn't work until the pms vendor put their codes in.

There is absolutely no interaction at the phone level.

If Maid in room is enabled, Maid in room code followed by any single digit with the possible exception of zero will always return dial tone.

The customer did report when they dialed certain maid status codes they got dialtone but as I've said I was not able to verify anything on site, just what was told to me. The takeaway from all this is to make sure the pms vendor has programmed their codes in or their system will not show maid status and the customer will be pointing the finger at the pbx vendor.

Sorry billiho I disagree on your takeaway. What the PMS vendor does is not relevant.

If you do not get dialtone when dialing the code there is a problem on the PBX, period.

Of course what the pms vendor does is relevant. If the customer is dialing the wrong pms code for clean and dirty then the status won't change. If the pms vendor doesn't have their codes programmed the status won't change. If the system IS returning dialtone on a misdialed code then the problem is still not fixed. The way to solve the issue is by testing and, working with the Mitel pms emulator and if needed the pms vendor to solve the issue.

I could very well be wrong about the fast busy because as I've said twice, I was not on site to verify the tones received.
