I have an SX-50 for a hotel and am trying to add a reservations extension. Basically I need to be able to answer incoming calls and then transfer them to a reservations line which will be either toll-free or long-distance. My staff would be able to answer the phone, then push an extension or key-combo and have it transfer the line completely to outside reservations. Because of the need to transfer from an outside line (instead of from an internal in-house line), simply programming a speed-dial number won't work. How can I program the control registers for this kind of incoming/outgoing extension?

assuming you have CO lines then in command 100 register 05 bit "c" to enable "CO to CO Connection"
class of service programming command 121 to 129 or cos 1 to 9 program register 1 bit "j" to a 1 for the set cos that is doing the transferring Authorized trunk to trunk connection"

I am not sure why you say you cannot use a speed call to transfer possibly I am missing something here.

Also if the transferring party is getting out of the call then you may have issues with disconnect supervision, I would watch out for that.

another assumption, let say on the off chance your trunk provider does provide disconnect supervision then you would also program the trunk programming 501-580 register 2 bit "c" to a yes for Disconnect Supervision Guaranteed. I was lucky I had over 160 SX-50s and where I come from the trunk provider did provide disconnect supervision but I think that is very rare.

I may be missing something as it has been a lot of years since I programmed a SX-50
