I am attempting to install a Mitel Map ESU to a Mitel SX-2000 system. Using the current db - 9 cable provided, I am able to connect my laptop to the SX-2000 and with Procomm Plus at 9600.

OI have set up the Map unit and tested it using a mitel sx200 and it works fine. I am using the provided yellow db 9 connector, a rj45 standard computer cable and the db-9 cable currently hooked up to the SX-2000, but all I get when connecting is a up and down arrow....
Any advice would be appreciated.

Well for starters, you need to be very versed in networks to be able to program it.
Secondly, maybe you can get hold of the self study training doc on MOL. At least that will help with the understanding. Along with any tech docs.
Thirdly, If at all possible, get Mitel to do it for you.

Hi Meremortal,
As stated in my original post, I already programmed the Map unit and can hook it up to other phone switches (like a tadiran OR AS MENTIONED SX200 cx)but it will not connect to the SX-2000.
I am not certified on the SX-2000, so Mitel won't help me on it.
I can use the same db -9 cable that is hooked to the SX-2000 and get in with my laptop....just not remotely which was the original intent of the post.

How do you talk to the other systems, serial interface or IP.
If you are trying to communicate with the SX2K over serial with a MAP, I'm not sure it will work. The MAP is primarily IP Based and can be set-up to communicate with the MC3E card on the ethernet port. You have to tweak the IP port settings on the controller, you'll need system level access though.
Give the MAP the controller settings and enable telnet port and you should be able to talk to it.
If serial is required, you'll have to check out the manual etc. I've not done that. Serial comms was always done using the older versions of trackers, like 2400, 2600 and 2650.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, MereMortal,

I talk to the other systems (Tadiran and a Mitel SX200) using a serial connection at 9600 n,8,1 and indeed used the Ethernet port out of the Map unit to do so.
Just that hooking it up to the same seriel port that I can hook my lap top up on the SX2000 won't "accept" the Map ESU ethernet interface.
