we're trying to expand an SX-200 ML to a second building, using a two-bay system connected with FIMs. This should be easy, but it looks like we only have 1 available single-mode fiber between buildings, and the FIMs we have are standard multi-mode. Distance is <1Km. They are trying to do this cheaply.
I was considering using the SM-MM non-clocked converter ( instead of spending like $2500 for the SM FIM cards. Thnen use fiber splitters from FiberDyne to combine transmit and receive to a single fiber - the splitter claims <-65db reflection.
Another option would be to somehow gateway the CIM into the gigabit network between buildings - but have never seen any reference to bridging a CIM to ethernet.
Any ideas appreciated...
Thanks!
